Melbourne 5-piece Doc Halibut’s rock n’ roll and pop style exhibits an authentic heart and irrepressible energy to carry any audience aloft and along for the ride. Through raucous sections of interpretation and improvisation to precise craftsmanship, the ever-present quip, jibe and plaintive observation of Andy Ferguson’s lyricism stand central to their sound.
Psyche-Blues-Stoner-Rock two-piece The Urban Chiefs from Tamworth have been tearing up stages since 2009. Blake Saban (guitars and vox) runs an arsenal of custom guitars through multiple amps and a bass rig, building a sound so massive it shakes the floor. His gravel-soaked vocals cut through the chaos, while Glendon Finlay’s tribal, hard-hitting ‘drumcussion’ drives it all like a freight train.
Northern Rivers based Matty Rogers doesn’t play music so much as he becomes possessed by it; a conduit for the musical muse. He taps into the depths of his heart and weaves it into a dynamic musical experience of Americana blues-rock drenched in soul. Renowned for his authenticity in both songwriting and performance, this passionate singer-songwriter approaches his craft from a place of pure vulnerability, a quality that garners him fans of the diehard variety.
