He’s BACK! Festival favourite 8 Ball Aitken returns to rock #AgnesBluesFest in 2023 with his sensational live show. This high energy swamp-blues-rocker has toured the world for more than a decade, performing across twenty countries to date; earning a loyal fanbase from his live shows and internet videos while paying his dues as a singer, songwriter, slide-guitarist and producer.
Since relocating to Music City, USA in 2012 from his native Australia, 8 Ball has worked with many of the best in the Blues business today. In 2021, he won second place in the International New Orleans Cigar Box Guitar Festival, hosted by blues-woman Samantha Fish.
During lockdowns, 8 Ball self-produced 3 new albums from his house in Nashville. Supporting musicians include Buddy Guy’s Grammy Award winning producer Tom Hambridge on drums, George Thorogood and the Destroyers’ saxophone player Buddy Leach, Sydney soul singer Taya Chani on backing vocals, and his brother Dillion James Aitken on keys. 8 Ball played all of the guitars, bass and harmonica on all 3 albums.
Home is where the heart is and 8 Ball Aitken returned to Australia last year from the USA, performing at many sold out shows and festivals ever since. His single ‘Ice Cream Man’ hit #1 on the AMRAP Australian Metro Radio charts and the album hit #1 on the Australian Blues & Roots Charts in April 2021.
A little softer and more soulful than his usual swampy blues, his latest album ‘Heart & Soul’ was released earlier this year to #3 on the Australian Blues & Roots Chart and widespread radio airplay. 8 Ball is currently touring Australia-wide.
