Due to the ongoing road issues due to recent flooding in North Queensland, Stu Harcourt will be unable to join the party in paradise at the 2025 Agnes Blues Roots & Rock Festival this weekend. Stepping in to perform on the Discovery Stage in his place this Friday will be Ben Evolent with his spirited music that speaks to the soul.
A musician of integrity and acclaim, songwriter Ben Evolent’s folk-alt-meets-country-blues sound has become a mainstay on stages and festivals throughout the country over the past 15 years.
Across two EP’s and his debut Album ‘Wanderous’, Ben Evolent has developed a ragged and lively style deeply rooted in the spirit of song. Having cut his musical teeth in a decade spent in the Northern Territory, he drew inspiration from his vivid experiences there while establishing his versatility as a songwriter, delving into alt-country and foot-stomping blues whilst also expanding his more elegant folk side. He has recently laid down new roots in the fertile bush of the east coast where he has created a nest of inspiration to write and perform his honest tales of life’s highs and lows.
An eight-time nominee of the prestigious NT music awards and winner of the inaugural Tourism Award for the song ‘Next time’, Ben Evolent feels most at home on the stage. As a live performer, he is both personable and magnetic, drawing the crowd in with his easy-going nature, and keeping them there with the connection he weaves with his words.
Ben Evolent’s impressive onstage presence and expressive performance has seen him support touring artists such as Cedric Burnside, Kingswood, Busby Marou, Boo Seeka, The Backsliders, Benny Walker, Caravana Sun and All My Exe’s Live in Texas, while his music has also featured extensively in Tourism NT social media campaigns.
