Agnes Blues Roots & Rock Festival are excited to be welcoming the roots-rhythms of Queensland-based duo Kari & Gar to their intimate, chill-vibe Discovery Stage in February.
Kari Berg grew up in Connecticut, in the New England Region of the USA. She was playing the fiddle not long after she learned to walk. At a young age she attended two Fleadh Cheoils in the Republic of Ireland, the first in Listowel and the second in Buncrana, where at both she won medals for her performances in the under 12 years division. In later times she also spent a number of years playing at Contra Dance sessions.
Gar Mac Leman grew up in Australia, but spent 18 years based in Ireland, playing throughout Europe, in Irish pubs, clubs and festivals. His gravel-edged voice is accompanied by fingerpicked and strummed guitar, alongside Kari’s vibrant New England style of fiddle playing.
Kari & Gar play mostly Irish, Canadian and American fiddle tunes, mixed in with Gar’s original songs.
Don’t miss the roots rhythms of Kari & Gar, performing for the first time on the #AgnesBluesFest Discovery Stage from 10.15-10.45am on Sunday 23 February 2025.
Their Celtic-influenced sounds are guaranteed to get your toes tapping.
