Mesmerising Central Queensland-based roots artist Kate Mahood is getting ready to captivate the Agnes Blues Roots & Rock Festival when she opens this stellar live music event on the Marquee Stage in February 2025.
Blending folk stylings and country storytelling, Kate Mahood‘s songs portray an honesty and vulnerability that resonate deeply with her listeners. Heartfelt and often haunting lyrics coupled with stirring vocals and beautifully crafted guitar melodies, give Mahood a unique and original sound that is truly her own.
Growing up with artists like Neil Young, Gillian Welch and Paul Kelly on high rotation, this self-taught guitarist & songwriter refined her craft for over ten years before ever taking to the stage. Currently based in the coastal town of Yeppoon, Central Queensland, Kate Mahood is best known for her captivating and intimate live shows
Mahood has made regular appearances at festivals such as the Agnes Blues, Roots & Rock Festival, Rockhampton River Festival and Wintermoon Folk Festival. She has opened for artists including Busby Marou, Harry Manx, The Whitlams, Alex Lloyd and Amber Lawrence.
Mahood’s much anticipated debut single ‘Man Of Honour’ was released in 2022 followed by ‘Silver and Gold’ (2022), ‘Changeling’ (2023) and ‘Not Afraid Of The Dark’(2023). Her most recent release ‘Little Finch’ (2024), an ode to the beauty of nature and humanity’s impact upon it, has further unveiled the regional singer-songwriter to a wider audience around the world.
