Get ready to lock and load in 2024 as one-half of Marquee Stage band Kissing The Flint close out the #AgnesBluesFest Discovery Stage in duo format as Flintlock.
Flintlock will feature the talents of Leah Chynoweth-Tidy (vocals) and Laurie Rayment (guitars) in a special acoustic performance set to showcase a combination set of original songs from both skilled songwriters.
Leah Chynoweth-Tidy is a proud Gladstone Region girl and multi-award nominated singer-songwriter who has been based in her father’s native Scotland since 2020. She created music project Kissing The Flint (translation: creating a spark) in 2015 to cut through the fakery of the modern world. Fueled by an authentic, adventurous spirit, powerhouse voice and shape-shifting depth of songwriting, Leah captivates audiences with heartfelt stories and vivid imagery, from soft to sass; moving easily from melodic, roots beauty to empowered rock raunch. Leah is returning to her home state of Queensland in 2024 for the first time in over 3 years for her Australian ‘Fringe of Rooms’ album launch tour.
Laurie Rayment is an integral part of the Kissing The Flint band sound, playing guitar on five of the songs on the new album and rocking live guitar duties on the 2024 Australian tour. He is also the guitarist and songwriter for Shaman’s Daughter, a blues-based hard rock band which originated in Captain Creek/Agnes Water, but is now based in Gladstone. Laurie also plays guitar for the Gladstone-based country rock band Ethereal. For the Flintlock performance in 2024, Laurie will be drawing on his previous experience playing acoustic guitar in the Agnes Water-based trio Beautifully Broken where he shared creative energies with Amanda Heartsong and Jarred Cluff.
Performing together as Flintlock and combining their songwriting, instrumental and live performance talents, Leah and Laurie are a force of nature to be reckoned with. Their acoustic set on the #AgnesBluesFest Discovery Stage in February is one not to be missed.
