Get ready for a unique blues fusion with Mongolian and middle eastern vibes, when seasoned journeyman Mark Easton takes to the Discovery Stage at the Agnes Water Blues Roots & Rock Festival in February 2025.
Mark Easton has been part of the blues scene since releasing his first album ‘Coast to Coast’ with his trio Mark Easton Limousine in 2000.
After touring and releasing a further 6 albums, Mark decided to take a break and ended up travelling through Inner Mongolia and discovered a whole “other world of music”. After seeing Mongolian throat singer Bukhu Ganburged do the most amazing things with his voice, Mark knew he wanted to take another path.
Mark taught himself throat singing, Mongolian horse fiddle, Kazakhstan Dombra and Siberian jaw harp and started to mix it in with blues, and middle eastern folk music. He uses unique instruments from around the world to create something truly original and exotic.
Mark’s album ‘Dark Blue’ was released in March 2023 and went to number 4 the following month on the Australian blues charts, gathering a whole new audience along the way. Mark performed at the Moruya Mardi Gras Fest and Blues and Bites Blues Fest at Dreamworld later that year.
Mark released his latest album, ‘Nothing’s Sacred’ in November 2023, a collection of classic blues covers with a Mongolian twist.
Mark has played many festivals over the years including Thredbo Blues Festival, Blues on Broadbeach, Sydney Blues Festival, Red Amber and Blues Canberra and Wolvi Stomp in Australia, and Bay of Islands Jazz Festival in New Zealand.
