Agnes Blues Roots & Rock Festival are delighted to be welcoming local talent Maynard Heap to light up their intimate, chill-vibe Discovery Stage next month.
Maynard Heap is a versatile, solo, harmonica, guitar playing, singer- songwriter who produces a diverse range of songs with his 2023 released, ‘Agnes Water Blues’ single and EP of the same name. These follow his twelve-song debut album, ‘Nurtured In The Wild’, released in 2019.
Maynard’s distinctive, self-taught style has evolved with his educational career and musical journey throughout Queensland. He performed with Barry Cedric and the Dreamtime Project in 1992-1993, and regularly performed at the Woodford Folk Festival and ‘The Gathering’ with the Steven Hart Band since 2004.
Maynard’s solo works are sometimes insightful, often funny, uplifting, virtuous and inspiring. His arpeggio-picked-and-strummed acoustic, electric and slide guitar provide a solid foundation for his resounding vocals and either his melodious harmonica or bluesy cross-harp to weave its spell.
Maynard’s repertoire covers elements of folk, country, blues, roots and rock. He performed on the Discovery Stage at the 2023 Agnes Blues, Roots & Rock Festival and the 1770 Festival in 2024. ‘Agnes Water Blues’ is the latest example of his original solo work, combining acoustic guitar, harmonica, vocals, and stomp.

Each and every year the #AgnesBluesFest is not only focused on delivering a fantastic live show for ticket holders, it also ensures a positive impact on the local community and environment. In 2025, profits will go directly to local community groups, including the Agnes Water SES, Discovery Coast Environment Group, local Lions Club and the annual community event established in 1992, the 1770 Festival, held every May.
