Soulful songstress Piper Butcher is getting ready to take command and deliver shivers with her debut performance on the Discovery Stage at the Agnes Water Blues Roots & Rock Festival in February 2025.
Commanding audiences with soulful tones and an engrossing stage presence, Piper Butcher always delivers the shivers. Hailing from the Hunter, Piper has paved her music pathway by supporting acts including Robben Ford (US), Ryan McMullan (UK), Kasey Chambers, Nathan Cavaleri, GRAACE, Ash Grunwald, Tori Forsyth, Kav Temperely (Eskimo Joe), Casey Donovan, You Am I, Karise Eden, Diesel and many more.
Over the past three years, this mesmerising emerging artist has played at festivals including Dashville Skyline, Thredbo Blues Festival, Tamworth Country Music Festival, Moruya Blues & Roots Festival and West Best Bloc Fest, as well as being a Top 24 Finalist on Australian Idol.
With live accolades ever-increasing, Piper’s music has also been played on TV channels CMT (Foxtel) and 9GO, accumulating a large audience across every demographic. As well as these achievements, Piper has just secured the position of Ambassador for Operation Smile Australia, an organisation that is close to heart due to her own experience of being born with a cleft palate.
Piper’s passion and drive is evident in these few years of great success. In 2021, she released her EP “September”, with the outstanding success of #1 in the Alternative Album iTunes charts and #2 in the All-Genre Album iTunes charts. The EP came with the assurance and confidence that marked her as an impressive new artist with a long career in front.
In 2022, Piper released “Read Between the Lines”, a fierce, upbeat track that set her apart from other new artists. In December that year, she delivered a strong anthem single, “Unconscious Mind” which debuted at #2 on the Singer Songwriter iTunes Charts, held a position in the charts for a few consecutive days after that and also debuted at #1 on the AMRAP Regional Charts. In 2024, Piper was the only solo and female Grand Finalist at the Bluesfest Busking Competition, leading to a set at Byron Bay Bluesfest.
In the words of Aussie music legend Diesel, ‘Piper turns any song into an experience all her own, in turn taking you on a journey of rediscovery through sometimes familiar waters. An artist with a distinct sound defying what would normally take years’.
Audiences will be blown away by the maturity and diverse musicianship of Piper’s newest sonic outlook as she prepares to return to the studio and release her next single.
With the modern musical flair of Miley Cyrus and the timeless influence of Stevie Nicks, any performance of Piper‘s gives an insight into her unique sound and fresh style. From a full band sound to an exhilarating, heartfelt solo story, Piper showcases her soul in song; and there isn’t a single performance that is an exception. In fact, it’s a perfect illustration of where she has come from, and where she’s heading.
Be captivated by the soulful solo sounds of songstress Piper Butcher as she makes her shiver-delivering debut on the #AgnesBluesFest Discovery Stage at 1.15pm Saturday 22 February 2025. In the admiring words of Harry Connick Jnr, ‘she’s ‘a REAL talent’.
