A soul-singer, guitarist and songwriter, chameleon-Queen Taya Chani shape-shifts through many genres and loves every destination within her musical landscape.
Taya’s signature sound has been fermented in the richness of blues, infused with Americana, country and soul; spiced with funk, R’N’B and a love for jazz. Taya was also raised with ever-present, enduring pop and rock’n’roll influences.
A dynamic, rhythmic guitar player, Taya delivers a genuine, comforting presence that digs deep and her powerful, yet silky pipes are always a highlight. Solo, Taya’s shows are intimate and raw. When out front of a band, her showmanship and strength in leading her shows shine through.
Taya has performed in venues and Festivals across Australia and accumulated a strong camaraderie among a vast network of well sought-after musicians.
While travelling through the southern states of America, Taya found the true homeland of the music in her heart, particularly New Orleans, Nashville, Texas, Mississippi and Memphis. She always returns to her native Australia with a stronger goal and greater drive; overflowing with inspiration to write and create more of her own music.
Taya’s debut album ‘Restless Heart’ features an incredible lineup of her Sydney music friends. Her next solo album is scheduled for release in 2024. Taya has also been collaborating with 8 Ball Aitken to put the finishing touches to an album of all-original music written and recorded by them both and has also been working on another project due for release with ‘Southern Junction’, featuring Taya and Matt Ross.
